Review: Kuota K-factor

Due to my body-type, 5' 8" 180-200lbs with an ice hockey background, I had never considered purchasing, training, and racing an aggressive time trial tri bike. I was sure that I would spend my bike dollars and career on road bikes, a fine option. One day while visiting a local bike shop, a fellow tri-geek and employee mentioned that they were clearing out their Kuotas and they were priced to move. What the heck, I took out a Kuote K-factor for a… Continue

KarmaStriders Philadelphia marathon 09'. Well done.

Apparently mother nature felt just awful for her icy, frigid behavior at the 08' Philly marathon, as she dealt out a picture perfect day for 09'.

Up before the crack of dawn and off to set up our tent, I was eager to see the team before the 7am starting gum. We had all trained hard and long for this day. Many Striders ready to face a personal first, some looking for that PR or, that elusive Boston qualifying time, and some just getting the lead out and supporting fellow… Continue

21 Ways to Make Your First Marathon a Success

Shared by Sarah Race.

KarmaStrider

Here is a list of 21 things that my friend sent me after finishing the Baltimore Marathon a few weeks ago. Many of them I've already heard a bunch of times, and I'm sure there are different opinions regarding some of these tips, but I figured might as well pass it on!

21 Ways to Make Your First Marathon a Success

1. Don't plan on running with a partner. It's tempting to want to run with your training buddy, but it's… Continue

Recap: MS KarmaStriders Fundraising Bowling BASH at North Bowl Philly.

Great Job fellow Strider Emily Olsen for rolling up her sleeves and getting it done.

A hearty thank you to all who attended our fund raiser at NorthBowl last night.

Don't look now, but we may have just discovered a good formula for r great time.

Mother Nature stacked her deck but it takes more than a little rain to derail the MSStriders.

Extra props go out to the good folks at NorthBowl… Continue

Forze GPS Terrific Nutritional item

Review : Forze GPS

While volunteering at 'The Patriot Games' triathlon this past summer, A fantastic and unique triathlon put on by 'Butterflies for hope' in the Dwoningtown Pa. area, I came across a new nutritional item: Forze GPS bars. As a bit of a tri-geek, I am always in search of better nutrition, especially for the long training sessions that require intake. As many of us know, each our bodies take differently to different… Continue

2009 ChesapeakeMan Ultra Distance Triathlon race report

This is a rough and dirty recap of the Chessyman weekend. I wanted to get something out as soon as possible as I have received many messages of both concern and good wishes. Thanks for everyone’s support…

I started racing multisport events in the mid 1980s. One would think over that stretch of time that there must have been a race… Continue

Rudy Project; Simply The Best

Please note that I only look to blog positive and only when I am overly impressed by products and the company that stands behind them.

Early in my Tri-life, I asked my swimming coach and Nutritionist, Joanna K Chodorowska of Nutrition in Motion to recommend eye-wear for training and racing. Lucky for me, she had a few pair of Rudy Project, and was willing to part with one of them.

I was hooked at once.

But that's… Continue

Oomph Gear Gotta Love it

Gotta love Oomph gear.

Know before reading this; I only look to Blog Positive and only when a product of company REALLY impresses me.

One Autumn day in 2006, I was making my semi-annual pass through the 'Get rid of me' rack at a local running / tri shop.

Always good to pick up some utility gear for those many and long training sessions in the highly chlorified pools.

I grabbed a blue + orange tri top by a brand… Continue
