It's Been A While

Tonight I was working my normal EMS shift at Goshen Fire Company. We got dispatched for possible CVA/Stroke patient. When we got to the scene the patient was a man who had MS. Without violating any more HIPAA laws then I may already have I will say that it was an eye opener. I am used to my mom who despite physical limitations, is still fairly healthy. She uses a walker (when she's not too stubborn around the house to forget it) most of the time with some wheel chair usage for longer trips.…

Finding my Chi

Well, I think I had a breakthrough this week and I have Paul to thank. So thank you Paul.
Here is the lesson - RELAX! I was so strict with this Chi Running and trying to be perfect that I was really setting myself up to fail. As you may have guessed, I was maybe going to quit, but I decided to just get out there and try to have some fun.
So, first things first. I left that wacky metronome at home. Already the day got better. So, I highly doubt that I took 85 steps in any one…

First Workout

As expected, my Chi Running training stuff was delivered and was waiting in my mailbox when I got home yesterday after 3 weeks at the shore.
I read through enough to get me started and watched a little of the DVD.

Question on Marathon Training

Hello All! I am training for the Portland Marathon!

I have a question. The day before my long runs I would run a few miles and after long runs I used to take a day off. With my new training plan I take the day before off long run days. Which day is more effective to take off (before or after long runs)?

Thank you!

Ordered the Chi Running Beginner 10k training workout

Ok, so this is the second time I am attempting the training to go from not running to running a 10k. Three years ago when I first set my sights on becoming a runner, I trained and trained and ended up with a stress fracture and in a boot for 4 months.
I had wanted to run a 10k and do a split for my 40th birthday, instead I was in a boot. A year later and finally through with rehab, I thought maybe I could begin to SLOWLY begin to run again. Instead, I tripped on a step and broke my foot.…
