Trail Ridge Road ride

The Ride up to 12000 feet on Trail ridge road was a huge success.

. Great time, good weather and some hard, hard riding.

Some were taking it easy but Chris had some hard work to do. I stuck with him as long as possible but coach just didn't have enough after the altitude hit 10,500 feet or so.… Continue

DQ Triathlon at Kings Grant

Three words to desribe this triathlon:

1) Dirty

2) Flat

3) Fast

It should be noted that I only did the swim portion of this triathlon as I was a part of the winning relay. Thats all the bragging I swear.

On race day the skies opened up and soaked everything. The bike had huge puddles, the run had a foot of mud to deal with. So the race course was less than ideal.

The lake was extremly shallow and everyone who got out of the water this day… Continue

Toyota US Open Triathlon in Dallas, October 11, 2009

Hello everyone, I'm new to MyTriTraining, but I met Paul at CGI's North East triathlon while watching my fiancée race last weekend. It was definitely a warm day and I wish congrats to my fiancée for managing well in her second race ever.

I am an up-and-coming elite amateur with a number of first place finishes at local tri's in Virginia and was #6 amateur at IM 70.3 Worlds in 2007. I will be going for my pro card in 2010 and intend to get there with a top three amateur finish at the… Continue

CGI Northeast triathlon 09'.

Today CGI racing held their annual North East triathlon just down I-95 in the cozy little town of North East Md.

After a quick 50 minute traffic free jaunt down 95, parking was effortless which was a nice surprise.

As usual, the weather was hot, but what else would you expect in mid-august. This usually leads to a race-day decision on wetsuits. Today the water at race time read in at 85, so NO wetsuits. Not even if you were willing to sacrifice a chip time.

The… Continue

Mid Atlantic Multisport IMLP training.

Now that the dust has settled and I've had time to look back on the training that I experienced with Mid Atlantic multisport and Bill Hauser. I'll break away from my usual long-windednes and take a more direct approach.

Know that my IM was not a gimme'. I range between #185 and #195. With mostly an Ice Hockey background Have been racing multisport for 5 years prior, and have only completed 2 half IM's, 3 marathons, a large handfull of sprints and olympic distances, with one DNF at… Continue

Training in adverse weather conditions

TRAINING IN ALL CONDITIONS.

You never know what mother nature will dish out on race day. For example, Today, there are at least two Triathlons going on, that I know of. Last years IMLP was raining all day, Last years MS Karma Striders Debut was a freezing cold Philadelphia marathon.

By training in adverse conditions, you better prepare yourself for anything.

If we were closer to the event I would recommend running in this weather.

Also, If you are early in… Continue

Re: Road ID ~ VERY IMPORTANT!

Once again we are reminded of the importance of carrying identifcation whether we are running / riding or even swimming...a runner was struck by a fallen branch on a very popular running trail in the Phialdelphia area..unfortunately the runner was killed instantly and did not have any identification on her....PLEASE remember to take identifcation with you.... www.road.id is a very easy online site to use to pruchase an id bracelet or attach to your shoes...most running stores also provide a… Continue

My first Ironman - IMLP 2009 Race Report

Wow, all the way around it was an amazing day. Before I get too deep into it, though, I have a few key people to thank.

My loving husband, Doug Caskey, who reminded me a year ago that if I didn't do an Ironman I would always wonder if it was something I could have done. Thanks honey, for all the errands and stuff you did around the house while I was out on the bike, and thanks even more for all the rides and runs you did with me. I could not, and would not, have done this without… Continue

She swims, she bikes, she runs, she du's, she rains. HARD

She loves me, she loves me not. That was the game of chance played by the organizers, volunteers, and athletes alike today for the annual SheRox sprint triathlon in Philadelphia's beautiful Fairmount park. Mother nature seemed to turn from NOT loving, with the early pre-race rains to Loving as she cleared the air for the start of the race. The organizers had to do the right thing and make the always difficult and unpopular adjustment from triathlon to a duathlon. Debris in the, now strongly… Continue
