PTC Who what when where, 7-31-09

Guys, wait no - that was us in 2006: Check that. PTC - if you haven't already heard, we have someone in our midst who has basically now redefined what it means to cut it close. As a matter of fact, you could get no closer to the close that we had on Sunday night in Lake Placid. I'll get to the race results for all our PTC peeps in a minute, but before I do that, allow me to relay the Tale of Paul Goldstone and Mirror Lake Drive.

From Rich Montgomery:

" I am sure you will hear… Continue

IM Lake Placid 09'. Piece-o-Cake. Paul Goldstone

I'm No Tracey Frairy, or Laura Payott, but I'll give a race report the old IM try.

It was the strangest thing Auntie em'.

(I reserve the right, in my current, still slightly altered state, to mix and match fairy tales and classics.) Roll with it.

I was in this far away beautiful place with alot of rollong UP-hills, nutty ppl biking and running, and even more nittier little ppl in orange and blue tee's. (at first i…

Miracle in Lake Placid,,, again.

Congrats to all who attempted the challenge of Ironman Lake Placid this weekend. I am sure everyone has a story but this is one I witnessed and wanted to give some props to this person because he encouraged me last year in the pouring rain at Lake Placid. If you have your own story please share!

This was no miracle! This is about a guy who was determined to achieve his goal to become and Ironman.

The day started for me @4:30am. I was volunteering in a kayak for the swim… Continue

Fasttracks at, Jersey State Tri. CGI.

In other triathlon news Kerry, Dina and I did the NJ State Tri on Sunday. The weather was threatening rain (I seem to attract it on race days) but it held off to be replaced by extremely high humidity. The swim in Mercer County Park was a wet suit legal 77.9 degrees (78 and wetsuits become optional, but your time is separately recorded from the rest of the field). A pancake flat bike course was made more difficult by medium-strong winds, but the real damage was on the run. The Olympic racers… Continue

Ironman Lake Placid 09'

Hi folks:

Last year Paul Goldstone came to Lake Placid to support me in my Ironman quest. Funny thing: he got the bug and signed up for this year's epic adventure. Race day coverage will be available starting in the early morning (7:00) and continuing throughout the day. The finish line is live streamed video. http://www.ironmanusa.com/

Wherever you are on Sunday, send your positive energy northwards like you did for me last year. Oh, and the weather forecast--same as last… Continue

Back on my Feet. 20/24 ultramarathon 09'

What a fantastic weekend of running! The weather could not have been better. Warm days, cool night and the sky was clear and beautiful. Our club was well represented. We had two relay teams and one other team had strider/fast track members, the midnight run and the pajama loop as well as a number of runners running as lone rangers.

The race was extremely well supported and well organized. Lloyd hall was the perfect venue for just hanging out in between laps, taking a nap or just… Continue

CGI philly womens. Why tri when you can DU ?

No matter how hard you try to coordinate the MANY MANY elements involved with putting on a top shelf event, we are always at the mercy of good old mother nature. SHE IS THE BOSS.

Last weekend the good ppl at CGI racing had to 'eat their rubberbands' and adjust their race from a triathlon, to a duathlon due to unacceptable water quality resulting from a wicked rain storm the night before.

Where as this usually tends to aggravate both racers and coordinators alike, there is… Continue

Badwater ultramarathon. Fasttracks

Both sets of crew members and Keith arrived safely in Vegas either Saturday or Sunday.

They are currently in Death Valley National Park and are staying at mile 42, Stove Pipe Wells.

There is NO cell phone coverage from the hotel or along the park route so far so

don't bother with text messages like I did!

They DO have a wireless connection to the Internet in the lobby of the hotel so

will be sending e-mails as often as possible… Continue

Safety First

Always remember to ride safely. Swim / Ride / Run with a partner and follow the general rules of the road always. It is also a great idea to have and wear a 'Road ID'. Have your cell phone handy whenever possible.

No matter how many precautions you take, you can only control so much.

Islandnam triathlon 09'.

No Two ways about it. Today was another simply FANTASTIC islandman triathlon hosted by Tim Kerr charities.

The weather was race perfect and the sea, this year was welcoming at a crisp 66 and calm. (Unlike last year when the waves rejected all to many racers)

Top amateurs seemed to be in t2 before we knew it.

For anybody who has not experienced this event in any capacity, racer, spectator, volunteer or other, I highly recommend that you do. You see, not only is it an… Continue
