CGI UNITE Half Marathon Pacing

Good day for a long run eh?

Yesterday, I headed up with the KarmaStriders to Rutgers University for their CGI UNITE Half Marathon. I was assigned to pace the 11minute group with Thui.

Prior to the run, I thought that it would be extremely difficult to stay at 11 minute pace for the whole race. Well initially, it was, but my pacing-watch definitely helped. The pace was very relaxing... And having Thui with me helped so much... she insisted on carrying the huge…

Innaugural CGi Unite half marathon

Well the endurance event gods smiled on the good folks of CGI Sunday, as runners and voluntters were all treated to near perfect 13.1 conditions. It was as good as ever to see the many many farmiliar faces and even get to meet some new ones. Especially fellow KarmaStrider Andrew Scott from waaay up in North Jersey.

Quick eval:

-Venue- Rutgers University New Brunswick. Just a hop, skip and a jump from both Philly and NYC areas.

Extremely aesthetic and not…

CGI Unite 1/2 Marathon Pace report (and yup, that isn't a misspelling)

Yesterday (Sunday, April 18th) the Karma Striders teamed up and provided pacers for the CGI Unite ½ Marathon. Doug and I paced the 12 minute/mile group, which involved carrying a big orange sign on a long wooden stake for the entire distance, which really wasn’t as bad as it might sound. What a great experience! Our group was made up of…

Unite Half Marathon 4/18

sorry wanted to share (and hoped you all would share yours too)

I got guilted into joining a charity team for my work last winter as they trained for the new Unite Half Marathon in New Brunswick, NJ. In a fit of optimism I gave myself a finish time goal of 1:35, which was a little faster than my PR from 1997 but I figured I might as well have a good goal to keep me going this winter. So winter came and went and I ran well and hit the track regularly. Race day came and I woke up before the… Continue

Ocean Drive 10 Miler

First race of the year. Ocean Drive 10 miler. From Cape May to Wildwood in 25mph headwinds...

Ms Race and I headed down the shore for a lovely weekend at the Jersey Shore. The prior weekend, we enjoyed 85-90 degree weather. This weekend was unfortunately not the same. High 40s and 25mph winds made for a heck of a run. There were times when I felt as if my "I Run for MS" hat would fly off my head!

All in all, I PR'd at 1:27. Keep on truckin'…

Pottstown Spring Forward 5k

My manager at work signed up our company team for a 5k in Pottstown....

Bets started flying left and right between co-workers to see who would beat who. Being the youngest of the group and an active runner, no one even attempted to place a bet against me. I only had Steve bet 50 cents and a facebook friend invite.

Being the idiot that I am, I totally overtrained when I decided to join a couple friends down at the Art Museum for a…

Training Ride!

Such a great training ride today - 11 miles in 55 minutes, a vast improvement over last week's ride. I was pretty pleased, as this is only my second ride outside this year and really my first outdoor training ride because last week was more experimental than anything else. I attribute the improvement to having fully inflated tires and using my cycling shoes with clipless pedals instead of my usual sneakers. The shoes really make a difference, especially when going uphill - I get more power out… Continue

Rome Marathon Report

Rome Marathon Recap

Randy Latza

Alright, so the marathon was 3 weeks ago, but better late than never!

This was my first international marathon, let me rephrase that as I am

sure there were many internationals in my previous races, this was my

first marathon outside of the U.S.A. A friend Mary and I went to

college with, Tony, lives in Rome and last fall he mentioned to Mary

Doylestown Du Race Report

Doug and I both did our first duathlon on Saturday at Lake Nockamixon State Park: run 5k, bike 30k, run 5k. Coach Eric’s notes were brilliant – which I followed almost to the letter - and despite that I feel slow right now I managed to finish in the upper end of my age group. It gives me hope that I might still get a podium finish this season and step out of the perennial 4th or…
