Philly Olympic 27 June 2010

I always try to learn something with every race: do this, don't do that, grow a little. But, sadly, anything I can take home from this race is utterly trivial when you know that a 40 year old male triathlete went missing in the river during the Philly Sprint yesterday and has not yet turned up, healthy or otherwise. My heart goes out to his family - reportedly his wife and son were waiting for him at the swim exit - during what can only be a horrific time.

My race? As a…

Black Bear Olympic 23May2010

Today life is teaching me some lessons, but we'll get to that in a bit.

Pre-race:
Doug is a champion trooper and I love that he is with me during these events, especially because of the crazy wake-up times, like this morning when we got up at 4:15 a.m. Two cups of blessed coffee which tasted and felt so good because I've been (mostly) off of caffeine for the last 5 months and I'm saving those caffeine splurges for race days. CGI Unite 1/2 Marathon Pace report (and yup, that isn't a misspelling)

Yesterday (Sunday, April 18th) the Karma Striders teamed up and provided pacers for the CGI Unite ½ Marathon. Doug and I paced the 12 minute/mile group, which involved carrying a big orange sign on a long wooden stake for the entire distance, which really wasn’t as bad as it might sound. What a great experience! Our group was made up of…

Doylestown Du Race Report

Doug and I both did our first duathlon on Saturday at Lake Nockamixon State Park: run 5k, bike 30k, run 5k. Coach Eric’s notes were brilliant – which I followed almost to the letter - and despite that I feel slow right now I managed to finish in the upper end of my age group. It gives me hope that I might still get a podium finish this season and step out of the perennial 4th or…

Hi It's Lisa.  Having gone through the adoption process, I found it as hard in the intial months as any pregnancy.  Janine (my youngest at 8) and I will be at the hotel with you and your family and hope to get to know you all.

Hey kiddo, Am I the only one who's a little down after that weekend ? Yikes.
Not at all a push but our MS KarmaStriders Phila Marathon slots are getting close to filled. Just a reminder as you seemed to be sincere with your interest.
Either way, My Chicago marathon training starts this wknd, hopefully it'll take away my duldrums. :) Paul
