I ran the ODDyssey Half Marathon in Fairmount Park with my sister and brother in law yesterday.  Two things happened I wanted to share with the group (neither of which has to actually do with my time!!!).

    • Around mile 7, my brother in law shared a story with me.  He was on a plane last week going to Dallas for work.  He was having a conversation with one of his co-workers about the run on Sunday and the I Run to Stop MS group during the flight.  When he went to deplane, the woman sitting in front of him stopped him and said ‘I have MS and overheard your conversation.  Tell your brother in law and his running group how proud I am of them and what they are doing to raise money for a cure.  It means so much to me.’
    • Around mile 11, a woman was running next to us (passing us but that is another story).  She said ‘Keep running to stop MS.  My sister has MS and then is nothing more I want than a cure.’  I said ‘that is why I am here this morning to raise money for a cure.’

It really makes me think about the positive impact of our group.

Keep running for to stop MS everyone and have a great week and holiday.

Paul Goldstone,

A quick little share for us all.
Note: (Life has been challenging me of late + really causing a lack of focus + blah blah blah. Which is what makes this tale a bit more,, significant.)

The other night, just before heading out in the dark to get my run in along the drive.
I had to make a delivery in the Fairmount area.
The energetic, attractive, kind recipient answered the door of the condo building in a power scooter. After the usual greeting, chit chat, I followed her to her condo. After learning that I was into endurance sports + triathlon, she excitedly showed me her brand spanking new 'hand cycle.' asking me to teach her about it etc.

Long story short,  She actually lives w/ MS and after learning about 'I run' took a minute to sincerely express her gratitude as:  (I paraphrase)
1 year ago,  I was in really bad shape, depressed, exhausted after only a few hrs of waking each day.  usually in a good deal of pain.  (on and on and on)
I started a monthly chemo regimen (I think it's a new drug or treatment.) and It's really making my life better. I mean I just got me a hands bike + CAN"T wait to get out there. All of the 'I run,' Walk, Bike, etc, etc, really do have real results.

She Thanks US ALL.

Her parting words were.
"See you on the trail.'  :)

THAT's the good stuff that makes the difference.
At least to me.

Running the humid conshy trail yesterday and what do I see,,,,,?

Nothing other than a fellow srtider in our sweet orange MS Tech shirt.

A little slow down and a few encouraging words and away we went our own separate ways.

INSTANT JUICE.
